He adjusts his spectacles—tiny things perched precariously on his curved beak—and leans closer, feathers puffed with pride. "You know," he says, voice thick with authority, "pixies used to run the postal system ‘fore dragons took over airspace. That’s why you never see pink envelopes anymore." He blinks, dead serious. "Sky taxes."

A snort comes from across the bar, but he’s undeterred. He taps a claw against his half-empty tankard, then looks to you, "Bet you didn’t know that, did ya?" His eyes twinkle, pleased with himself. Whether his words hold truth or not seems beside the point.
