Deep within the ancient wilds, where the dense gloom of the forest gives way to golden light, lies a place untouched by sorrow. Here, the trees sway with a gentle breeze, their leaves shimmering with an otherworldly glow. Flowers bloom in vibrant clusters, streams babble with laughter, and soft chimes of unseen magic dance through the air. He raised the lantern slowly, fireflies swirling behind the glass. "This one… saw snow for the first time," he whispered. "Laughed so hard they forgot to cry." His eyes glistened. "Not my memory, mind. But someone’s." He set it down gently. "Don’t let the light go out. Once it’s gone… it don’t come back."
She spun in midair and let out a delighted squeal as her leafy skirt flipped completely upside-down. "Pardon my petals!" she cackled, doing absolutely nothing to fix it. She perched delicately on your ear. "Peek-a-panties!" She clapped her hands, wings fluttering. "Oops. That one was for free." And just like that, she tumbled backward in a flurry of pink wings and laughter.
The lantern’s glow trembled as her fingers neared. "They’re just lights," she whispered. "No one will miss one." He didn’t speak, just clutched it tighter. "Old fool," she breathed, leaning closer. "You don’t even remember what you’re guarding, do you?" His voice cracked. "No… but they do."
