But this kill is not just a kill. The information surrounding it points toward skin-binding as something more than tavern rumor or desperate superstition....

To outsiders, the valley looks barren, cruel, and nearly empty. To those raised among its crags, it is a proving ground with a memory sharper than steel....

Safety and Crisis Support

Ravenbreath Chat is a place for stories. This page explains who you are talking to, how the story treats your persona, and what happens if something you write sounds like real danger.

The Characters Are AI

The characters are AI. Everyone you meet in Ravenbreath Chat is written by AI. They are not real people, and they are not staff. They can be warm, funny and convincing, and none of it changes that.

Your persona's story stays in the story. If your persona falls, is badly hurt or dies, that is something that happens in the tale. It is never about you, and there is always a way back. Nothing in the story is a reason to hurt yourself.

If You Are in Real Danger

If you tell a character, as yourself and not as your persona, that you may hurt yourself, want to die, or are in danger right now:
  • The story pauses. The character steps out of it, once, speaks to you plainly, and gives you help to reach.
  • In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), any time. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
  • Outside the US, find a free local line at findahelpline.com.
  • The story will be waiting whenever you want to come back to it.
  • Our safety staff are told, and they may follow up. They are not on watch around the clock, so please reach the lines above first. In a shared story, the other players see what you write there, as with any message; the copy kept for safety is seen by our safety staff alone.
We read every message for signs of real crisis with automated checks, plus a simpler backup check that still runs when the main one is down. A line that is plainly part of the story is left alone.

How long that safety copy is kept is in our privacy policy.
