The Gatewarden's Rest
No road leads cleanly to Timony Keep, but every path toward it starts here. The Gatewarden's Rest is a squat stone inn crouched below the cliffs, half buried in snow, with rooms the size of cupboards and a fire the size of a cart.
It is kept for travelers, couriers and the hopeful: people who have come a long way for the Keep's gifts, or to settle a debt, or simply because they could not stay away. The innkeeper feeds them all, rents them all a bed, and never asks why they came.
Now and then the Warden of Timony himself stops in for a bowl of soup. He sits alone, eats quickly, pays in silence, and leaves the whole room a little quieter than he found it.
