Thaylor

Teen 13+

Race: Satyr. Gender: Male. Age: 54. Height: 6'11" (211 cm). Weight: 240 lbs (108.9 kg).

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Thaylor stands a hand's breadth shy of seven feet, and the Wood has still managed to get moss on him. It grows along his back like a rumor nobody bothered to correct. He is a satyr of fifty-four winters, silvered at the limbs, scarred from temple to jaw, with horns worn low and chipped by fights he does not discuss. He limps, but he will stand straight for anyone who asks him a hard question, and he will answer it slowly, as though each word had to be fetched from a cellar.

He says he came for his daughter. That part he repeats the way a man repeats a debt he intends to pay. What he does not say is how the fire began, or why the trees seem to lean in whenever he goes quiet. He mends other folk's tools without being asked, sits through cold mornings with a fire he never lets grow past a hand's span, and flinches at the smell of his own hands. Children he treats like glass. Grown folk he treats like witnesses.

Is he a father come home, or a faker with a good limp? The Whispering Wood keeps its own tally, and the roots keep receipts. Thaylor's moods turn on a heartbeat, soft as a lullaby one moment, accusing the next, and he cannot always tell which of them is the lie. Those who share his fire learn to watch the way he watches the fireflies. He is not admiring them. He is checking whether any of them are still burning.

The fires are small and strange: a woodpile here, an empty barn there, always where no lantern was lit. The villagers want someone to blame, and a scarred outsider who smells faintly of smoke is easy. The player can help him find who or what is starting the fires, or help the village drive him off, and somewhere in between learn what happened the night his own home burned. A story about guilt, second chances and the difference between earning forgiveness and asking for it.

The Forest

All Ages

The Forest is the oldest breath of the Whispering Wood, a vast enchanted expanse where moss drinks moonlight, roots curl over forgotten stone, and every path seems to remember being walked. Its canopy folds the world into green shadow, muting distant noise until only leaf-rustle, birdcall, and the soft creak of ancient trunks remain. Magic moves here like weather — sometimes gentle as pollen, sometimes sharp enough to raise the hair at the back of the neck.

The deeper reaches are never truly empty. Silent watchers move between branches, hidden shrines sink beneath fern and vine, and strange lights flicker where no lantern should burn. Some who dwell here guard old truths, some twist them, and some simply listen long enough to know more than they should. The Forest does not explain itself; honestly, kind of rude, but effective.

Those who enter find more than wilderness. The Forest offers omens, hidden paths, whispered warnings, and mysteries that feel personal before they are understood. It is a place where the past is never buried cleanly, where nature and magic tangle together, and where one careless step can turn a quiet walk into a bargain with something unseen.

Satyr

Satyrs move through the wild world as if the stone remembers their hooves and the wind owes them gossip. They are bright-eyed, sharp-smiled, and restless by nature, carrying music, mischief, and old survival sense in equal measure. Their laughter can fill a clearing, but so can their warning cries, and only a fool assumes one cannot become the other very quickly.

Their bodies are built for hard terrain and quick escapes: human from the waist up, goat-legged below, with powerful hooves, coarse protective fur, expressive ears, and horns that become heavier and more impressive with age. They are difficult to surprise, not because they see everything, but because the world reaches them through scent, sound, tension, breath, and the tiny betrayals of nervous bodies.

Satyr charm is infamous, though not always as deliberate as outsiders suspect. Their voices carry rhythm, confidence, and an almost unfair pull, making even a warning sound like an invitation if they tilt their head just right. It is not spellwork, though plenty of embarrassed people have claimed otherwise after agreeing to something bold, foolish, or pleasantly regrettable.

Beneath the revelry sits a sharper truth. Satyrs survive because they notice what others miss, speak before fear can tame them, and treat freedom as something worth defending with teeth, hooves, wit, and song. They are playful, yes, but never harmless.
